One year appointment

How big is Lucia? So big!

In this corner we have baby Lucia weighing in at an impressive 25.4 pounds (95%), standing tall at 31.5 inches (98%) with a head just right at 46.5 cm (87%). Amazing to think in one year she has grown so much. She's a solid tall bean. We went to the doctor today for her appointment and it was the first time she could walk all over the office by herself. She was insistent that she bring both her baby and her stuffed bunny with her (more about her hoarding behavior in another post). She was able to walk all the way to our room when the nurse called and since she's an explorer, soon the room became too small so she wandered up and down the hall in her diaper waving at people. She loved it and they loved it. She stood on the big girl scale for her weight and for a brief moment was naked. She wanted to make a run for it but I stopped her. As funny as it would be, I thought that other patients and doctors might not appreciate her peeing on the floor which she has done when excited.

Then, her doctor came in. He was doing the polite thing and wearing a mask because he had a cold but it scared Lucia and she cried for the rest of the appointment which was unlike her. I felt bad knowing that the shots were coming next. All in all, not a great appointment. We got the clean bill of health though which was the most important.

What has she been up to for the last month you ask? Well she became a walker this month and the world is her oyster now. She's amazing at verbal recognition of things and we can ask her where is the ladybug book and she can go down the hall to the bookshelf, dig through all the books until she finds it and bring it back. She still says mama and dada but can now sign the words for bath, book, hat, ball, banana, please, more, milk and eat. She found a love of dolls (babies) and she takes care of them at Yoma's house. She learned tantrums, those have been rare and interesting. All in all she has a bigger, brighter personality and is coming into her own.
