Lucia has been talking about having a sleepover with her friends for a year now. We kept telling her that she was too young to have sleepovers but our independent girl kept asking and this week her wish came true. Our good friends the O'Claire's asked to drop Lilly off at our house early on a school day (so we could take her in with us) and it made more sense to have her spend the night. I called Lilly's mom and she agreed. Lucia was so excited! She talked about it for days leading up to the big event and when I woke her up the morning of her sleepover she giggled with glee saying "Mama, Lilly is sleeping over tonight!!!". That evening, Lilly's dad dropped her off and the girls ran off to play. I wondered if the girls would have trouble sleeping, if either would get scared, if I would get any sleep....but all worked out fabulously! After playing for a little while they brushed their teeth and Jon read them a book. I then tucked them into bed and after some conversation they fell right asleep and slept until I woke them up at 6.45 a.m. the next morning.
Reed also seemed to love the sleepover as when I picked him up out of his crib his first word was "Lilly" and he ran to find her. He followed her around until it was time for him to go to Noma's house and then, without us telling him to, he went up to her and kissed her gently on the head twice. Our sweet boy's first crush :)
We hope to have more sleep overs in the future. Thank you Lilly for such a great sleepover.
