The sickness that kept us from Ava's birthday

You would never know it from these pictures but Lucia had one of her worst weeks of sickness last week. With a fever of 102 that remained for 4 days and a cold that stayed with her for weeks, Jon and I stayed home with her this week as she recovered. Unfortunately, this meant that our planned trip to Portland to celebrate her cousin's fourth birthday had to be canceled. Lucia had been talking about the party for weeks. She would walk around the house singing "Happy Birthday to Ava" and saying "cake, birthday cake, I like cake". Since she couldn't experience it live we went to the cupcake store to get her a mini cake and we sat around the table and sang Ava her happy birthday song. We're looking forward to celebrating with them when they come visit next month.
