Fourth of July weekend

Lucia had an eventful Fourth of July weekend that included new first experiences for her - some good and some not so good. After several sleepless nights (by all of us) we correctly guessed she might have an ear infection. Because it was the Fourth of July the only places open for a doctor to see her was the emergency room or Seattle Children's Hospital outpatient clinic. We opted for Children's which we had never been to although we have several close friends who work there. I have to say that it was one of the most amazing hospitals I've been to. The place is decorated with beautiful murals, wonderful kids art and toys and has such caring and capable doctors and staff. We hope not to have to go there again because Lucia promised us she wouldn't ever get sick again but I'm grateful for all the top notch care we received. They told us she had a double ear infection and the croup and after a bunch of medication we headed home to relax.

The next day Lucia was feeling much better so we took her to the beach for the first time. The tide was out so she was able to walk on the wet sand and feel the mud between her toes. She even tasted it, although we tried to stop her and she actually didn't mind it. I think she'll be making her fair share of mud pies. She sat down in the water, ran around giggling and had a grand time. I love that she was excited about the beach and we look forward to taking her there in the months and years to come.

Hey wait a minute? Is there an outpatient center at Children's that is open on the weekend and holidays? We went to the ER when Lucy bonked her head not knowing where to go. Enlighten me!

Great beachy pics!
