Sucking her lip

Since this blog will serve as a baby book for Lucia I have been trying to document all the sweet things does. I also don't want to forget these things as they are the little things that we both cherish about her and years from now, when she's taking the car keys to go out with her friends we'll look back on these early months and try to remember what she was like when she was small. 

One of her sweet little mannerisms is that she sucks her bottom lip. She does it for comfort, she does it out of habit and she started doing it when she was three months old. When she was born the hospital gave her a pacifier (soothie) because they didn't want her to cry. They did this because her lungs were partially collapsed and they wanted her to save all her energy for re inflating them. We hadn't decided one way or the other about pacifiers but soon we realized she loved it and couldn't sleep without it. So much so that we went two weeks with only sleeping 45 minutes at a time because when it fell out she'd wake up and we'd have to go put it back in (over and over again). So when she was three months old the soothie took a one way vacation out of the James house and we haven't looked back. It was about that time she started sucking her lip. Its always with her, she loves it just as much and now she sleeps much better!
