Canada Day 2012

After Lucia and Dad went to Vancouver for Canada Day 2011 we decided to make it a tradition and go up for Canada Day 2012.  While Saturday was not very pleasant due to all day rain, we did find a fun indoor play area and spent pretty much all day there, which was fine with the kids.  That night the excitement of staying in a hotel overwhelmed the kids and they stayed up WAY too late, Reed in particular.  We were all in bed (with Reed in his portable crib) with the lights off trying to sleep when Reed started singing very loudly.  We have been listening to a Peter, Paul and Mary CD in the car and one of the songs is 500 Miles (if you miss the train I'm on, you will know that I am gone, you can hear the whistle blow a hundred miles).  Anyway, Lucia loves to sing along but we never got the sense that Reed was even listening.  At least until Saturday night when out of the darkness he sang "HUNDRED MILES, HUNDRED MILES!"  If that wasn't funny enough the way he said the word miles was even funnier.  He really emphasized the "mi" part, so it sounds like "MYY-uls."  We were all laughing hysterically which didn't make it any easier to go to sleep.

On Sunday we went to our favourite Canada Day spot, the Burnaby Village Museum, and had a great time.  Lucia got her face painted again and Reed got a maple leaf tattoo on his cheek.  As you can see someone was tuckered out on the way home but there was no way he was letting go of his balloon sword!
