Happy Birthday, Reed!
Our "baby" Reed is no longer a baby. Or as Reed would say in his best caveman voice, "me big kid." One of the many things we love about Reed is that in addition to his being, well, a big kid physically, he has the larger than life personality to go with it. Now that he's talking and singing (ALL the time now, even in his sleep!) he has this habit of switching into caveman voice part way through whatever he's saying/singing. For instance, he'll start singing ABCD in a normal voice and then when he gets into the middle letters he drops his voice way down for a few letters and gives them extra emphasis. It's really hilarious and we have been trying to capture it on video with little success. It's like trying to capture Sasquatch.
Reed is also hysterically funny and genuinely just loves to be around people. We regularly hear that he is a favorite of the elderly residents at the assisted living facility upstairs from daycare where he laughs and gives them hugs. The following is the daily report from his daycare on June 21, 2012. "Reed sings (really well!) all day long. Went on a visit with Amelia, Ylva and Madison. He gave our resident friend Ruth a nice firm handshake. Built railtracks, colored with markers, built towers with cardboard blocks and knocking them over. At the lunchtable he put pitted cherries on his fingertips and Maxwell laughed so hard he almost fell out of his chair."
Some of the more recent Reedisms are "Daddy (is a) big dude," "Yeeeeeep!" (not yeep, but yep really long and drawn out), and "Okay, Mommy" (Daddy, Noma, whoever else). He's barely two and already he's learned that whenever one of us asks him to do something or is disciplining him and explaining that he should/shouldn't do something he just looks at us and says, "okay, Mommy." It's all we can do to keep from laughing even if we're trying to be serious. He's going to be a handful, that's for sure!
