Road Burn

Our rough and tumble girl sometimes takes big tumbles. She's always been a run hard, play hard, jump higher kind of girl. As a baby when she was learning to walk she would just throw herself in the direction she wanted to go even if it meant falling hard each and every time. She is truly fearless, which scares me but also makes me very proud.

There are times however when the face meets the road and today was one of those days. We were together with our friends at a new park in the neighborhood and she was right next to me sitting up on a small (no more than a foot off the ground) ledge when she fell face first on to the concrete. The sound of her face hitting the ground was horrifying and scary and the tears and crying that almost never accompany her falls were present which I knew meant this was serious. Thanks to my friend Chris I knew what to do to check for a concussion and after an hour of observation I felt better that this would be a bad scrape but not a trip to the hospital.

She had a great afternoon and is enjoying her band-aids and in no time she'll be back at it running and climbing and falling and getting back up. That's our girl.

Poor Lucia! The toughest girls wear bandaids as a fashion accessory!:)
