Reed at 8 months old

Topping out at almost 28 pounds we have in this corner....Reed James! Boy, you are big, and I mean big. Our gentle giant, our sitting Buddha.

This past month you have changed so much picking up new tricks that are leading you to bigger and better things. It started out with eating, something that at first you were very hesitant to try. You would spit food out or clamp your mouth shut as if to say, no thank you. But over this last month you have added more foods to what you are willing to try which is a mixed blessing. You do need to eat solid foods but it is a messy process. I think the turning point started when we actually let you eat solid foods and not pureed foods. You prefer savory to sweet foods with spinach topping out the favorites. Let's hope it continues into when you are a toddler.

This last month you also learned to sit up by yourself (going from floor to seated position) and you learned to crawl backwards. Its a whole new world for you and a whole new world for us as we now have to close gates and baby proof the house again. You are pretty quick so when you get the forward crawling down we are in trouble.

You've had a bad month for sickness with pink-eye twice, an ear infection, a month long cold and the GERD that just won't go away. I'm looking forward to a new month with better health.

You are still sweet as the day is long and smile and laugh a lot. You love to be held and you love to be ticked by your sister letting out a big belly laugh. She loves you bunches and I can tell you love her too. I'm so glad you'll have each other as siblings and hopefully as friends.

Now on to the sleep front which is pretty unpredictable. Sometimes you'll only get up once a night and some nights you've been up every 2 hours. This is partly due to the illnesses or maybe the 6 teeth you now have but I'm looking forward to getting in a better sleep habit.

Happy birthday baby shark. We love you.
