A Simpler Time

Ah, to be almost two and think everything can be fixed with a little tape. So on our way in to daycare this morning we were stuck next to a bus at a stoplight. Lucia told me that the bus was noisy and then said "tape, fix it." I asked if she meant fix the noisy bus and she said yes. Needless to say it's pretty cute except for when she thinks she can tear a page out of a book because she knows mama can just fix it with some tape.

The other hilarious thing that happened this morning was when we got to the parking garage at daycare. For the last couple of weeks Lucia has associated the parking garage with a bird "poopie" that was on the front of our car. Don't ask why the two are linked, they just are. Anyway, whenever we get to the garage she asks to go around and see the bird poopie before we go into the building. Over the last week or so it has rained quite a bit on and off so the bird poopie has pretty much washed away. We looked at it yesterday and not much was left. This morning when we got into the garage Lucia started alternately saying she was sad and talking about the bird poopie. It took me a minute to figure out that the two (sad and bird poopie) were part of the same thought and when I asked her whether she was sad that the bird poopie was gone she said yes. Then she again repeated that she was sad in a pitiful little voice that made me sad. I'm almost hoping a bird poops on our car just so she'll be happy again ...
