Lucia came down with her first major illness yesterday. The stomach flu.
She was at Yoma's and I got a call that she had started throwing up. This was a first for her. I have to say we've been so blessed that she has been mostly healthy. That, combined with never having thrown-up before, almost no-spit up as a baby, and no drool while teething we were pretty lucky. This week has been temperatures into the 100's (literally) and so we spent a hot, sticky evening with her in my arms. We called our pediatrician who felt we should just wait it out and if it was over 24 hours to bring her in. That was a little scary for me because I wanted to make it all better but it was a lesson in parenting that we can't always fix it. Come this morning she was feeling better, some of the symptoms gone and we're hiding out in the basement where it is cooler (mid 80's) while she rests. She is seeming to bounce back quickly. Let's hope that these times are few and far between.
