Bonded for life

You ever have those experiences that you know change your life for the better? Running the Portland marathon was one of those experiences for me. Part of it was training for a race that was well beyond my athletic abilities at the time and then having the pride after it was done knowing that I was capable of completing the task. The other part, the most important part, was meeting my friend Melissa. She's one of the sweetest, most generous, funny women you'll ever meet. And real. I can call her up and she will always give me the truth, good or bad about how she's doing. Knowing that I can always trust her and that she is a real mom, a great mom, helps me when I have questions.

When we ran the marathon together she said to me less than a mile in "we're bonded for life". In the five years since then I've seen how much that's true. She got engaged 4 months before I did, married two months before Jon and I did and gave birth to her beautiful daughter Lucy five months ago. Heck, we even picked similar names for our girls. I'm looking forward to Lucy and Lucia being bonded for life and I'm so blessed to have her friendship while we both experience this great adventure of parenthood.

Here's pictures of the girls first play date together. The first of many.
