Fourth of July and our weekend

I got a little behind on blogging these last few days. They just went so quickly. We had a great 4th at home just relaxing and sleeping. Lucia had her bath and then we put her in the most patriotic outfit we had. Awfully cute isn't she :)
Yesterday morning we had our good friends the Ehlings over. They were all excited to meet Lucia and we were excited they met her. We spend most holidays with them and I know that she will be looking up to and playing with Sam, Jonah and Grace in the years to come. They brought over the most amazing newborn coffee cake which we promptly ate (we're trying to spread out the last few pieces over the weekend to savor it), a darling outfit and some champagne which I can assure you will be happily consumed by both Jon and I. They showered us with gifts, clothes from Grace but most of all they showered her with love and attention. All three kids were so excited to hold Lucia and did so well with her in their arms. She feel asleep, gave a little smile now and then and just seemed so content hanging out. Sue took some great pictures which I'll post sometime soon, and gave her some baby nibbles of love and Tim - well in addition to the newborn coffee cake, he showed us the official way to swaddle a baby (something we were doing a poor job at) and wouldn't you know it - she calms down much easier. Thank you Tim! Your expertise as a baby whisperer is intact and the James family appreciated it.

We also had a visit from Grandma James who has been spoiling us with food, love and support. Thank you, thank you.

This week will be a fun week with my brother Brien, sister-in-law Sarah and cousins Aiden and Ava coming out for a visit. We can't wait! They are coming all the way from Memphis and we always have the most amazing time with them. We're excited they will meet the newest member of the family. I remember when Aiden and Ava were born and it seems like yesterday. Now they are 5 (almost 6) and 2 1/2. Time flies and I'm sure I'll be saying that about Lucia soon. Then, later this month, my parents come for a visit. They've been checking in regularly for updates and I'm excited its only a few more weeks until their visit. I hope everyone had a great 4th.
